These are the terms for using AB Split Test - the WordPress plugin, the licence that goes with it, and the hosted services behind it. They're written to be read, not skimmed past. If anything here is unclear, ask us at [email protected] before you buy.
1. Who we are, and who you are
AB Split Test is made and sold by Faster Forward Inc, a company incorporated in British Columbia, Canada ("we", "us"). By installing the plugin, creating an account, or buying a licence, you ("you", "the customer") agree to these terms. If you're acting for a company or a client, you confirm you have the authority to bind them, and "you" includes them.
You must be at least 18 and using AB Split Test for business purposes. It isn't a consumer product in the ordinary sense, though where consumer-protection law applies to you regardless, nothing here takes those rights away.
2. What you're actually buying
Two separate things, and it matters which is which:
- The plugin code is licensed under the GNU General Public License v2 or later. That's the same licence WordPress itself uses. You can read it, modify it, and redistribute it under the GPL's own terms. These Terms of Service don't restrict that and can't.
- A paid licence key buys the things the GPL doesn't cover: automatic updates, support, the hosted CROassist services, and the right to use our name and marks as described below. The key is what these terms are mostly about.
The plugin runs on your own server. Your test data, heatmaps and session recordings live in your WordPress database, not ours. That's a feature, and it also means you're responsible for backing it up.
3. Plans
- Free (Lite). No charge, no card. Limited to one active test on one site, and it includes a 7-day demo of every Teams feature so you can try the real thing before paying. When the demo ends the plugin returns to Lite; nothing you've built is deleted.
- Teams - monthly or annual. Every feature, unlimited sites, unlimited tests, unlimited team members. Billed in advance and renews automatically (see section 5).
- Teams - lifetime. A one-time payment for the same features, with updates and support for the life of the product. "Lifetime" means the product's lifetime, not yours: if we ever retire AB Split Test we'll give lifetime customers at least 12 months' notice, and the plugin you have keeps working on your server regardless.
Current prices, and exactly which features sit in which plan, are on the pricing page. That page is part of these terms.
4. Where you can use your licence
A Teams licence covers you and your organisation, on any site you build or manage - your own sites and your clients' sites alike, with no cap on the number. You can white-label the plugin so clients see your brand. You can give team members and clients access to the dashboard on sites you manage.
What you can't do with the key: sell it, rent it, give it to another organisation, or bundle it into a theme, product or service you sell to others. The key identifies one customer. If a client wants AB Split Test on sites you don't manage, they need their own licence. Keys that turn up shared outside the organisation that bought them may be deactivated, and we'll email you first if we can.
None of this limits what the GPL lets you do with the code itself.
5. Payment, renewal and cancellation
- Renewal. Monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, at the price shown on your invoice, until you cancel. We'll email you before an annual renewal.
- Cancelling. Cancel any time from your account (Manage Subscriptions › Cancel). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you've already paid for; you keep full access until then. There's no partial refund for the unused part of a period - the refund window in section 6 exists for that.
- Price changes. If we change the price of your plan we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email before it applies to a renewal. You can cancel before then and pay nothing more.
- Tax. Prices exclude sales tax, VAT or GST unless the checkout says otherwise. The tax shown at checkout is calculated from your billing address.
- Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails we'll retry and email you. If it still fails, the subscription lapses: the plugin keeps working, but updates, support and hosted services stop until it's paid.
- Payment processing is handled by Stripe and PayPal. We never see or store your full card number.
6. Refunds
14 days, any reason, on paid plans. If AB Split Test isn't right for you, email [email protected] within 14 days of a purchase - including a renewal charge or a lifetime purchase - and we'll refund it in full. No form, no argument. We'd appreciate a sentence on why, because it helps us improve, but it isn't a condition.
After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion. If you've hit a bug we can't fix within a reasonable time, we'll still refund you - that's on us, whenever it happens.
7. What happens when a licence expires
The plugin keeps working. Your tests keep running, your data stays on your server, and nothing is locked. What stops is what the key pays for: updates, support, and the hosted CROassist services. Renew at any time to pick them back up.
8. CROassist and AI features
CROassist is the set of AI features in the plugin: the heatmap and behaviour analysis, the rewriter, the CRO chat, and the agentic features - full-site test generation, competitor analysis, and whatever we add to that list next. Here's how it works, plainly:
- Credits. Teams subscriptions include a monthly allowance of AI requests (the number is on the pricing page). Unused credits roll over while your subscription is active and are lost if it lapses or is cancelled. A lifetime plan includes a one-off block of 1,000 credits that does not refill; you can buy more when they're used. We may apply fair-use limits or rate limits if a single licence is consuming resources in a way that affects other customers, and we'll tell you if we do.
- Your own API key. You can add your own model-provider API key to the plugin. Requests made with your key don't count against your credits - for the rewriter and the CRO chat. The agentic CROassist features (full-site test generation, competitor analysis, and future agentic features) run on our infrastructure and always use credits, whether or not you've added a key.
- Third-party models. AI requests are processed by third-party AI models on our behalf. We use them under API terms that don't allow your prompts or page content to be used for training, and we turn on the provider's zero-data-retention setting wherever it's offered. Which model we use changes as results improve, so we don't name one here. Page content you ask CROassist to analyse is sent for that purpose only. Details are in our privacy policy.
- It's a suggestion, not advice. AI output can be wrong, generic, or confidently off. It's an input to your judgement, not a replacement for it. We don't promise that any suggestion will improve your conversion rate.
9. The agent changes your site - you're in charge of it
Some features act on your live site, and it's worth knowing exactly how far each one goes:
- Test autocomplete is a per-test switch, off unless you turn it on. When it's on and a variation wins, every visitor starts seeing the winner. The plugin never edits your page content to do this - the winner is applied when the page is served, and it stops the moment you turn autocomplete off, reset the test's results, or delete the test. With it off, you get a "winner found" notice and nothing changes until you act.
- The CRO agent and full-site test generation don't publish anything. Generated tests land in your dashboard as ideas; a test only runs when you launch it.
- Automatic CRO scans (the heartbeat in section 10) only read your pages and make suggestions. They're on by default on paid plans and can be switched off in the plugin's settings.
You authorise any change the plugin makes on your instruction, and you're responsible for it as if you'd made it yourself. We still recommend reviewing generated variations before you launch them, and keeping backups.
10. What the plugin sends to us
AB Split Test is self-hosted, but a few things do talk to our servers, and you should know what they are:
- Licence activation - your site URL, licence key, and the plugin and WordPress versions, so we can check the key and deliver updates.
- A periodic heartbeat - a light check-in that confirms the licence is active and, on paid plans, runs a small automatic CROassist scan of a few pages so the dashboard has fresh suggestions. It uses no credits, and you can turn the scan off in the plugin's settings.
- AI requests - when you use CROassist, the page content and context you've asked it to work with (see section 8).
- Screenshots - to analyse a page visually, we render it through a third-party screenshot service.
- The edge worker - if you enable Cloudflare edge testing, the plugin deploys a worker into your Cloudflare account. Your test configuration lives in your account's storage, not ours.
Visitor data - heatmaps, recordings, test results - never leaves your server unless you send it to CROassist yourself. Our privacy policy covers the rest.
11. Support
- Paid plans get email and ticket support. Up to 20 people from your organisation can contact us on your licence. We aim to reply within one business day; that's a target we take seriously, not a guarantee.
- The free plan gets the documentation, and support where we're able to offer it.
- Support covers the plugin working as designed. It doesn't cover building your tests for you, fixing your theme, or general WordPress help - though we'll usually point you in the right direction.
12. Your responsibilities
Because the plugin runs on your site and tests your visitors, some things are yours to get right:
- Privacy law. You're the controller of your visitors' data. Heatmaps and session recordings can capture personal data; the plugin gives you consent-mode integration, masking and a privacy-friendly mode, and it's your job to configure them to meet the law where your visitors are.
- Accurate use. Don't use the plugin to deceive visitors, run tests that violate the law or a platform's rules, or test content you don't have the right to use.
- Your account. Keep your licence key and account credentials secure. You're responsible for what's done with them.
- Compatibility. Keep WordPress, PHP and your other plugins reasonably current. The minimum WordPress and PHP versions we support are the ones the plugin itself declares - WordPress shows them on the Plugins screen.
13. Our name and marks
"AB Split Test", "CROassist", the logo and the wordmark are ours. The GPL gives you our code, not our brand. You can say you use AB Split Test; you can't present a fork or a bundle as being from us, and white-labelling is for showing your brand to your clients, not for reselling ours.
14. Warranty and liability
We work hard to make the plugin reliable, and we fix bugs. But software runs in environments we don't control, so:
- The plugin and services are provided "as is". We don't warrant they'll be uninterrupted, error-free, or that a test will produce any particular result.
- We're not liable for indirect or consequential loss - lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or loss arising from changes made on your site by features you enabled.
- Our total liability to you for anything arising from these terms or the product is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
- Where the law where you live doesn't allow a limitation above, it applies to the extent it's allowed. Nothing here excludes liability that can't legally be excluded.
15. Ending things
You can stop using the plugin at any time; cancellation and refunds are covered above. We can suspend or end a licence if these terms are seriously breached - sharing keys outside your organisation, abusing the hosted services, or using the plugin to deceive people - and we'll tell you why. If we end a licence for breach, no refund is due; if we end it for any other reason, we'll refund the unused portion of what you've paid.
16. Changes to these terms
We'll update these terms from time to time. Small clarifications take effect when published. Anything that materially changes your rights we'll email to paying customers at least 30 days before it applies, and you can cancel before then if you don't agree. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
17. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of British Columbia, unless consumer law where you live says otherwise. Before anyone goes to court, email us - most things are fixable in a conversation.
