Magic Point-and-Click Tests v2: How It Works

Today marks a big milestone for AB Split Test.

Hey, this is Tom and I’m genuinely excited to share something we’ve been working on for a while now: version 2 of AB Split Test is officially live.

This update is a big one. Not just because of what’s new, but because it finally brings to life the original vision I had back in 2018 when I first built this tool.

My goal from day one was simple:

Make A/B testing in WordPress so easy that anyone could do it.

Not just devs. Not just techy marketers.

Anyone.

Because when you give people the ability to test real testing, with actual data they stop guessing. They gain confidence. They can show results to their clients, their bosses, or just double-check their own ideas before pushing live changes. And that’s powerful.

But let’s be honest even with the earlier versions of AB Split Test, it wasn’t as seamless as I wanted it to be. It worked, but it still felt like you needed a bit of setup. Some patience. Maybe a tutorial or two.

Now? Not anymore.

Say Hello to Magic Point-and-Click Tests (v2)

With this new version, setting up a test is finally as easy as it should be.

Here’s how it works:

Launch a new test. From anywhere on your WordPress site.

Click any element. Text, buttons, headlines, whatever you want to test.

Edit it instantly. Our sidebar editor slides in so you can tweak the copy or styling.

Get AI suggestions. These aren’t your typical ChatGPT “meh” suggestions either. Our AI actually crawls your site to understand your tone, your goals, and your ideal customer profile. The result? Copy that actually sounds like you, not a robot.

Create as many variations as you like.  A/B, A/B/C, go wild.

In just a few clicks, your test is live.

Create, Preview, and Launch In Seconds

What I love most about this update is just how fast it is.

You can switch between your original version and your new variations in real-time using the version selector. You can add multiple elements to a test. You can even preview the test straight from the admin bar.

It’s a smoother experience all around whether you’re a solo founder, a designer, or running an agency.

This Was Just the Beginning

When I wrote this post, I said there was more planned. That turned out to be an understatement.

Since v2 shipped, here is what has been added on top of Magic Mode:

Heatmaps and Session Replays — see exactly where visitors click, how far they scroll, and watch real sessions so you know what to test before you start clicking around in Magic Mode.

CROassist Chat — open a chat inside the Magic Bar and ask specific questions about your page. The AI responds based on your actual content.

Test Ideas with ICE scoring — log test ideas as you find them, score each one by impact and effort, and promote the best ones straight into the experiment workflow.

Tabbed Magic Bar — the Magic Bar now has tabbed navigation, in-place test editing, and a much better flow for creating tests from ideas.

The original goal was to make A/B testing simple enough for anyone to do. That work is ongoing. The Changelog has every update if you want to see the full picture.
