Do I Need a Page Builder for AB Split Test?
No. A page builder is not required.
AB Split Test works with WordPress out of the box. If you build with the native block editor, classic editor, or custom HTML, you can run tests without installing any page builder at all.
If you do use a page builder, AB Split Test integrates directly with the most popular ones so you can test inside your existing workflow.
What you can test without a page builder
If you are not using a page builder, you can still test:
- Full pages against each other
- Individual blocks in the WordPress block editor
- Custom HTML, CSS classes, or shortcodes
- JavaScript events and code-level variations
- Any element you can target with a CSS selector
Point and click testing (Magic Mode) also works without a page builder. Click any element on your live page, review AI suggestions, and start the test.
Supported page builders
AB Split Test has deep integration with the following builders:
- Gutenberg (WordPress block editor)
- Elementor
- Bricks
- Beaver Builder
- Breakdance
- Oxygen
- WP Bakery
- HTML Classes
You do not need the premium version of any of these builders to use AB Split Test with them.
Testing inside templates and theme parts
If you use a theme builder to manage headers, footers, or reusable layout sections, AB Split Test supports testing inside those too. This works with:
- Block Templates
- Elementor Templates
- Beaver Themer
- Bricks
- Breakdance
Test your header CTA, your footer layout, or any global section without duplicating pages.
Full page testing without a page builder
If you want to test two completely different page designs against each other, you can do that with full page testing. Build both versions however you like, point AB Split Test at each URL, and let it split the traffic.
This works on any WordPress page regardless of how it was built.
